Yay.
Speak of the devil. I may get my wish.
Speak of the devil. I may get my wish.
Things that I can’t get out of my head.
Magic: The Gathering + Everway
Exalted + Traveller
OD&D + Dark Tower
oMage + Shadowrun
Via Grognardia: Dark Sun is coming back!
Very cool news. 4e isn’t so much my bag, but I’d be willing to give it another shot if the book is well put together. More than that, if they manage to keep the atmosphere and tension of the original setting, it gives me hope that they can manage [...]
Dungeons & Dragons: Celebrating 30 years of very stupid monsters.
(Via Twenty Sided.)
So, I posted this same video clip over at my other home-de-web, but it’s awesome enough to share twice. Satoshi Kon’s new movie Paprika makes me want to run, or even better, play in an Exalted: Fair Folk game so hard.
So: Exalted, the board game.
Anyone know anything?
Or, Notes toward something that may become something eventually.
It is said, among the wise, that if you walk far enough, you reach the tower. It does not matter which direction, nor how many days you spend, they say; only that you walk unceasing, until you have lost yourself in the road, until at last you [...]
I’d play.
Spotted on the WotC forums, three great posts by the same author:
The Revised Necromancer Handbook: How to build a decent Necromancer in D&D 3.5. It’s harder than it sounds.
Tome of Necromancy: A massive writeup on what Necromancy should look like, with plenty of creative options.
Tome of Fiends: An even bigger look at new options for [...]
Got my new dice, along with a few new books. Mostly D&D stuff: Complete Divine, Monster Manual II, and Tome of Magic. Also, the new BattleTech Total Warfare core rulebook. Review forthcoming.
I want brag for a moment about my awesome solid steel dice. They’re pretty great. I could throw this d20 and kill someone.
Tonight – [...]
Something I didn’t know I wanted until someone else invented it: ActualPlay.com, an aggregation portal for tabletop game reports. Since its usefulness depends on its visibility and use, here I be pimping it, and I went ahead and added Iron, Flame, and Shadow. Apparently more powerful search utilities are in development, as is a slight [...]
Dungeon crawing as an ‘extreme sporting event’.
I love it.
Jonathan Walton at One Thousand One is putting up a very interesting rewrite of Exalted, titled Anathema.
Some cool ideas there.
Tangentially, I have another entry in my ongoing list of “Things I Could Do With Dogs in the Vineyard“: First-Age Solars.
This is pretty cool.
Hm… I think I have a new idea for that D&D game…
I have been meaning to build a gaming table, after all.
White Wolf announced at GenCon that there’s going to be an Exalted board game. It will be large-scale, mass-combat based, with many fiddly bits and little plastic (presumedly) pieces and a card-based mechanic.
Some (very sparse) details available at this White Wolf thread, and this RPG.net thread.
I think there’s some potential here. Though it’s not Exalted [...]
I have Ptolus in my hands. It’s pretty goddamned massive.
It is officially my second favorite campaign city.
Behind Sigil, obviously. Because, y’know. Sigil.
I have this incredible desire to grab something crunchlight (probably Wushu or Risus), bring it to Otakon (where I be headed this weekend), and rope people into games.
This could go horribly wrong. Or horribly right.
I must meditate on this.
I’ve known about the “Beholder Mage” munchkin build for D&D 3.5 for a while. I didn’t know that someone had beaten it out.
Behold: Pun-Pun
That’s right, if you can get a Kobold to the lofty heights of level 5 (Divine Minion 1/Wizard 1/Master of Many Forms 3), you can raise all of his attributes to an [...]
Savage Worlds and Manual of Exalted Power: Dragon Blooded arrived today.
They have entered the review queue as well.
Bonus! I’ll throw up a capsule review of the Weapons of the Gods Companion: It’s stupidly awesome. The Great Game rocks, the Kung Fu creation rules rock, and the new Lore sheets and styles rock on toast. The [...]
The Fantasy World News Generator:
Today’s Top Story
SKULLSHORT, Deathwing – Hezbollah inflicted heavy casualties on minotaur soldiers as they battled for a key hilltop town in southern Deathwing for a fourth day Wednesday, with as many as 14 soldiers reported killed. Lebanese officials, meanwhile, confirmed that four Empire observers were killed by a minotaur airstrike [...]
Mostly so that I can locate it quickly in the future: The Hypertext d20 SRD.
Yay, the internet.
Randomly generated RPGs. When the GM just doesn’t feel like reading a book.
Personal favorite:
The PCs are non-Euclidian bloggers in a dream (or is it?) who, with twelve-gauge shotguns, fight the unknown for electrum pieces until the budget runs out.
I’d play that.
